• SPAM! Artists’ postcards

Following the summer break, pastificio_lab returned to activity in conjunction with the 7th Giornata del Contemporaneo promoted by AMACI, the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums.

SPAM! Artists’ Postcards stemmed from the desire to make use of a medium that is cheap, light and, in its own way, poetic: the postcard. The project involved almost 100 artists, who were given pieces of 10×15 cm cardboard to personalize according to their own tastes and sensibilities. The postcards—created in complete freedom over the course of the summer, wherever the artists happened to find themselves—were posted to sguardo contemporaneo’s mailbox, and finally exhibited at Spazio Cerere.

SPAM! also included the participation of collector Enrico Sturani, one of the foremost experts on postcards in Italy and Europe. Sturani, who, since the 1980s, has dedicated a series of exhibitions, essays and conferences to this medium, involved the public in a “performative lecture.”
