Davide Miceli

Davide Miceli was born in Rome on October 12, 1999. He resides in Isola Sacra (Fiumicino) but works in Rome. He studied at RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts), earning degrees in Sculpture and later in Printmaking. In addition to pursuing his independent artistic research, he also works as a specialized technician, educator, and exhibition installer. Since 2023, he has been an assistant in the Sculpture department and a lithographer at RUFA.

Davide Miceli is interested in constructing distance. Every object he creates stems from the need to build barriers between himself and what passes through him. Mastery of materials — technical, visual, or otherwise — instead of opening new possibilities, becomes an obstacle: it makes him skilled, and therefore too present. With each new project, he seeks to sabotage his own expertise, to create interruptions in the continuity of knowledge. He deliberately constructs failures, small crises. The artwork thus becomes a device of distance, a threshold not to be crossed, an interiority he does not wish to recognize.
