Michele D’Aurizio

Michele D’Aurizio (b. 1985) is founder of the nonprofit art space Gasconade in Milan, whose program is devoted to presenting Milan-based artists born in the 1980s. He is also Associate Editor of Kaleidoscope, a quarterly of contemporary art and culture. At Gasconade he organized solo exhibitions of Andrea Romano and Kaspar Müller. He co-curated with Eva Fabbris the 2010-11 program of the Kaleidoscope Project Space in Milano, where he organized a solo exhibition of Peter Friedl; the group exhibition “The Horizon Behind Us”, featuring works by Pedro Barateiro, David Diao, Marte Eknaes, Lara Favaretto, Bojan Sarcević e Daniel Sinsel; and a series of workshops with Simone Bertuzzi / Palm Wine, Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, Vincenzo Latronico and Salottobuono. From 2007 and 2008 he served as Editorial Assistant at Mousse, a bimonthly magazine of contemporary art. His writing has been appeared in Mousse, Kaleidoscope, Spike, The/End and Hunter and in the catalogues Low Déco (edited by Alessandro Rabottini; Kaleidoscope Press, 2010) and Andy Boot. Backgrounds, Surfaces and Landscapes (Kaleidoscope Press, 2011). He co-edited the artist book Emil Michael Klein. Filled in, Outlined (Kaleidoscope Press, 2011). D’Aurizio received a MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti – NABA in Milan. He lives in Milan.
